The FOREMAN range of kitchen knives
Good design creates a balance between technology, philosophy and poetry. The FOREMAN range of knives designed by Carsten Gollnick for Carl Mertens reflects this design approach:
The new knives are characterised technically by a special balance; each individual instrument lies in the hand in perfect ergonomic harmony. The blade and handle are consistently forged by hand from premium blade steel for the Carl Mertens range. The quality of forging is very high; the knives are ultra-sharp and retain exceptional cutting properties.
From a design point of view, the knives enhance everyday life with their uncomplicated beauty: The handles curve gently; the grip plates made of oiled, European walnut follow the lines creating a completely innovative and unique form never seen before! Moreover, walnut has a particularly vivid structure. It is natural product that allows every handle to look different, both in graining and colour.
The range covers chef’s knives and cleavers in various sizes and is supplemented with independent forms such as a “peeler” or “herb master”; a knife specially designed for chopping herbs. FOREMAN is more than just a range of practical knives. It is not intended for dishwasher cleaning. The result is aesthetic, highly individual instruments - a must for cooks with high demands on design and functionality!

METZ knife range: Asia meets Solingen craftsmanship
Robust, clear-cut and with extra wide knife blades: The METZ knife range from Carl Mertens, designed by the Düsseldorf agency SquareOne, concentrates on the essential. A reduced design language inspired by the culinary traditions and rituals of Asia meets with the best of Solingen craftsmanship in METZ. The name “Metz” is in itself a colloquial Solingen term and means “knife”. The knife range has deep regional roots and is as authentic as its down-to-earth name.
